A dating service aimed at married men and women is outrageous enough. Having advertisements for such an abomination on the public air waves is beyond nauseating. Seriously, if even the Boston Herald proclaims that it’s “outrageous” you know it’s bad.
Go read about it here. Can you believe that we might some day be looking back fondly […]

Reflections On Almost “Losing It All”
September 21st, 2008 · 1 Comment
It’s been quite a ride! Things are still not back to “normal.” I haven’t quite gotten everything that was moved for the evacuation put back yet but most of it is. The debris is mostly picked up and put in piles and busy killing the grass while we await the arrival of the crews that will haul […]

In his own words….
“I’m just a crazy, old hardhead,” said Wilkinson, while sitting on the front porch of his Fort Velasco Boulevard apartment today. “I didn’t say I had all my marbles.”
What did he do during the storm while sitting on his front porch?….yes seriously…..
Wilkinson said that he felt his home shaking badly in the fierce […]

Praise Be to Jesus Christ! I Have a House!!
September 13th, 2008 · 1 Comment
I am operating on very little sleep at the moment because I stayed up last night to watch the storm come ashore. The eye of Ike passed directly over the top of my house. I want to be very clear here. I do not mean that the eye of Ike passed near my house. I […]

My Google Reader Only Had 476 New Items….
August 11th, 2008 · 3 Comments
It's good to be home. Within ten minutes of arriving home, I discovered that my husband had "recycled" a pile of magazines/catalogs/other stuff that needed to be gone through but not urgently so. In that pile of things that had gone to the paper recycling dumpster at our church was a brand new package of […]

August 2008 is Officially “Pray for PZ Myers Month”
July 31st, 2008 · No Comments
From St. Peter Canisius Apostolate
I’m sure you’ve heard about the outrageous sacrilege committed by PZ Myers. If you haven’t, Jimmy Akin sums it up here. I’m not going to comment on what he did. You don’t need me to do that.
But I will encourage you to make August a month of prayer for PZ Myers. […]

More on Eucharistic Desecration….
July 23rd, 2008 · 2 Comments
Mark Shea has some excellent thoughts on the spreading wave of Eucharistic desecration and threats of such on InsideCatholic.com and Father Joe suggests a prayer of reparation here.
I'll repeat the Prayer of Reparation I suggested a couple of days ago which is taken from Holy Hour Of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Please […]

Some Things That Are Wrong….
July 13th, 2008 · 1 Comment
It's wrong to defend the Faith with violence and/or threats of violence. Period.
These people and people like them….and here should not be getting ugly emails much less death threats or threats of any kind. Yes. What has been said and done is unspeakably ugly and disrespectful. Blasphemous. So?
As Christians we are commanded to […]

I Could Care Less About LSU and “Entertainment” That Involves Chasing Spheroid Objects
May 8th, 2008 · 4 Comments
But I am a very big fan of backbone and guts and this is a story of both. This feat belongs on the list with that Japanese guy in the Olympics who dismounted from the rings onto a leg he knew was broken and only winced. This is Mary Lou Retton sticking a landing on […]

Fully Protecting Our Children
April 18th, 2008 · No Comments
While rightly charging United States bishops with doing all in their power to heal the dreadful wounds caused by priests who forsake their vows and prey on children, the Holy Father also rightly draws attention to the wider context of what it means to fully protect children. Although I have seen him attacked and accused […]

April 12th, 2008 · No Comments
In his message for World Day of Prayer for Vocations, Pope Benedict XVI said:
“The Church prays everyday to the Holy Spirit for the gift of vocations. Gathered around the Virgin Mary, Queen of the Apostles, as in the beginning, the ecclesial community learns from her how to implore the Lord for a flowering of new […]

Dedication of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart: Domus Dei et Domus Ecclesiae
April 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment
A light for the city of Houston…
(Houston Chronicle)
This building is both the house of God on earth (domus Dei) and a house fit for the prayers of the saints (domus ecclesiae). (from Built of Living Stones: Art, Architecture, and Worship 16)
The dedication of a cathedral is a once-in-lifetime (or several lifetimes) experience. I was privileged […]
