Are Catholics Wrong: Protestant Convert to Catholic Church header image 2

A Brief Thought From the Road

June 20th, 2008 · 8 Comments

I am travelling to the Catholic New Media Celebration, and since my husband is driving I have had time to text a friend or two. The lovely thing about having serious conversations via text message is that sometimes the desire for brevity (even with a full keyboard on the phone, it's still a big pain to type long sentences.) you can hit on a gem or two. From today:

Friend 1: It's going to take all of my will power to do this [very hard thing].

Friend 2: Well just remember that you don't get any of God's will power until you run out of your own without giving in first.

So glad to meet you tonight and to have an extra pair of arms to hold my baby, so I could shovel a few bites of salmon in my mouth.

I’ve seen snippets of your blog by way of Et Tu? and the Catholic Carnivals, but I look forward to stopping by your blog more frequently…

Thanks for helping to spread the Good News.

    In Christ,
    Kate Wicker

OH, I wish I had been able to meet you! I was there… sort of… my baby wouldn’t stop babbling, so I spent most of my time in the lobby…

Ebeth I am so sorry to hear that your mother is still not talking. It carves out a very deep place of suffering doesn’t it?

Ouiz I wish I was able to meet you too!! I just knew there were more people around that I wanted to meet and didn’t. I think they need bigger nametags next year! I sure hope that I can meet you some day.

I’ll just tell you what I would have told you if I had had a chance to meet you — I LOVE YOUR BLOG! Thank you for all the great posts!

    OK, I feel better now.

Was there a “meet and greet” session that I missed? (I was late). If there wasn’t, I hope there will be one next year… with BIGGER nametags. For example, I was pretty sure I knew who was in front of me at Mass, but it wasn’t until I got right next to her that I realized I was sitting behind Amy Welborn and family!

    Oh well, maybe next year!

I would have loved to meet you too Ouiz….I know this is crazy but you know what I’d really like? I want a jacket with Catholic Spitfire Grill embroidered on the back.

I’ve often thought that I’d like to have really big fluffy towels embroidered with some kind of Spitfire Grill logo to give to the Grill members when they officially “cross the Tiber.”

    Some day….when I hit the lottery…..

And there was a meet and greet session at the end of the day, but I was long gone by then. I had to catch a plane for Savannah to re-join my family.

    LOL! Love the jacket idea!

Sorry I missed the last session. Grace and I had long given up and were making the trek home… listening to Mark Shea’s BEHOLD YOUR MOTHER CD. Well worth listening to!
