I made a mistaken assumption in a post that I made in March and I wanted to call attention to the correction I made regarding my errors.
The amended post is *here* on my old blog.
And *here* on this one.
Both have different comments that bring to light my different errors so I am putting them both up. My sincere apologies to all that I have wronged.
*Sorry but the hyperlinks on this new blog are not showing like I would like them too….I still hyperlink like crazy, you just can’t see them. It’s on my list of things to fix.

Just had to tell you how much I enjoy your blog! You’re doing a fantastic job… and I loved your post on Kephas barJonah. I never caught the significance of the “barJonah” part, so thank you!

just coming out of lurkdom to say how much I am learning. I love your writing!
Last night this post of yours sent me off on a bit of a tour around the forum you refer too ( ah the joys of the web, like falling down Alice in wonderlands rabbit hole!)
I am returning to the church of my youth, long story, but no one is more surprised than me. I would like to pose the same question to Claudine from Dublin that someone posed to me. ” What would you say to an atheist who refused to accept the claims of Christianity because he ‘knew’ Christians who were judgemental dishonest bla bla, and this therefore made him feel he was in a good position to assess the whole truth of Christianity?”
Of course my answer would be that sadly many people claim to be Christians who are, in fact, a very bad advert for Jesus, possibly, they are not even Christian at all. My best advice is to honestly look at the claims of Christ, the reliability of the biblical texts etc etc, rather than base your opinion on what people do or say.
When this was put to me, I realised that alot of my criticisms of the RC church were based, not on its actual teaching, but my frustration with how the practice of catholicism was playing out ‘on the high street’. Once I applied the same test to the RC church that I encouraged others to do to the claims of Christ, I realised that my objections were not reasonable grounds for rejecting the Catholic church.
Claudine feels that she has ‘expertise’ in this area beacuse she is living in ‘Catholic Ireland’ but that is like my atheist friend telling me that she has expertise in the area of Christianity because she was born and raised in Protestant England.
I can’t comment on the Sonlight forums, but I just wanted to get that off my chest ( and say hello too!)

Thank-you so much for casting aside the Cloak of Lurkdom Clare and thank you for your kind remarks. If you haven’t joined us as the Catholic Spitfire Grill yet, I hope you will consider doing so (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/catholicspitfiregrill/) My apologies if you already have, it gotten so busy in there that I have trouble keeping track! I am certain that we’d enjoy having you on LifeLong Learners as well it’s a rabbit hole that almost approaches a black hole with an attractive nature of almost infinite pull. I do know though that buying a membership makes it significantly less desireable for many.
Many blessings on your return to the RCC….Welcome HOME!! We’ve missed you.
