I wasn’t actually tagged for this meme but I saw it over on Rise and Pray and I thought it might be fun to see what came up. Here’s what you do, select the entire contents of your MP3 player and set it for randomized playback. Post the first ten tracks that come up:
1. Inkheart (disc 8 track 10) by Cornelia Funke. This is one of the most original children’s books that I have ever read. Be advised though that it is violent and one of the characters uses some salty language. I was enchanted by Lynne Redgrave’s reading of this one.
2. Hebrews chapter 4 by James Earl Jones
3. “Maria, Maria” from Supernatural by Carlos Santana
4. “Marriage and the Eucharist” by John Martignoni from the Bible Christian Society. His materials are free for the dowloading btw and worth a listen.
5. “Spring in Toledo” from Gypsy Fusion by Nova Menco
6. Fellowship of the Ring (disc 8; track 20) by J.R.R. Tolkien The literature of Middle Earth was meant to be transmitted orally and I think that there is a richness to his writing that is really only captured by listening to it. If you’ve never taken the time to listen to his works on audio, it is well worth it. Rob Inglis is a masterful reader on the unabridged recordings of Tolkien’s works.
7. “Young Jesus — The Infancy Gospel of James” from Jesus & the Gospels by Prof. Luke Johnson from the Teaching Company
8. Matthew 19 by James Earl Jones
9. “Beautiful” from Dreams by Daveed
10. “Na Buachaili Alainn” from Fuaim by Clannad
So what’s on your MP3 player? If you decide to play, please drop me a comment so that I can go read. Thanks! (And NO cheating!!)
